I live in Centre Island on the North Shore of Long Island. Billy Joel and Rupert Murdoch are among my neighbors. Two summers ago, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie rented a home a few driveways away from mine. I am making it sound like I live in a posh neighborbood, well...I do. The average price of a home in my neighborhood is in the upwards of 2 million dollars. I have no idea why I live here...
What I miss the most though are the sari-sari stores from the Philippines. In a sari-sari store, I could just buy one piece of candy at a time. That way, I can taste as many as I want. I remember buying Kropek one at a time or if I was really craving it, then I would buy the whole bag. Then I would ask my grandma to make the sawsaw for me which was usually Datu Puti suka with lots of bawang. Oh yummy! I miss that!
